I finally had my implant repaired this week. Mentor contributed just enough to cover the cost of capsular repair and replacement of the implant. I didn't receive enough to cover the cost of scar revision. I laughed when the head of their legal department said Mentor's utmost concern was that I would be a satisfied customer. I guess if that were true they would have made sure to repair the ruptured implant at least within the first month; I was nearing 4 months since the rupture by the time they took care of it. Because of this I had to undergo more extensive surgery which included scooping out more tissue and removal of scar tissue that had formed over the ruptured implant.
2 ruptures in 6 years. Is it worth the trouble and duress? We'll see what happens next.
I'll be posting a copy of the agreement they wanted me to sign, which basically stated I would never hold them responsible or liable for any problems of any kind.

Oh my gosh! I'm looking into getting breast aug and seeing stuff like this makes me super nervous. I used this website, www.mycosmeticprocedures.com , to find a legit doctor. My surgeon looks great, but does this kind of thing happen frequently?!
ReplyDeletePlease let me know what happened. I'm going through the same thing. Both of my implants (2003) started leaking within 2 years. Went to my doc who said wow hes never had that problem but would give me a discount on replacement or upgrade them to silicone (not available at the time of original surgery) at his cost. Since I had just shelled out 8000 2 years prior I couldn't afford to spend another 6000, even at his discount! Now I find out there was a warranty & I'm pissed that they are playing a financial shell game with me! Have gone back & forth on the phone with surgeons office (went from 7900 down to 5100 to replace without any help from mentor according to them-their doing me a big favor..NOT) & just left a message on mentors voicemail.
